The African Development Bank has released a $1 million grant to Uganda to help the East African country tackle an outbreak of the Ebola virus.
The grant to support Uganda’s National Ebola Viral Disease (EVD) Preparedness and Response Plan, was approved in January. Funds have been disbursed through the World Health Organization (WHO), which is the implementing agency.
A delegation from the French government, led by Philippe Lacoste, director of sustainable development at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, paid a working visit to African Development Bank headquarters in Abidjan on February 13 and 14.
In Morocco, the African Development Bank has helped thousands of young people towards a new future in agriculture.
Abdelhak Boukhari, a young farmer said he learned farming from his father. "I started in this area in 1995 when I was very young. It was really difficult at first because I didn't have any land; I didn't have anything. I shared a plot with other farmers and after that I started renting land. It was then that I really got into agriculture as a career," said Boukhari.
Representatives of 27 Development Finance Institutions (DFIs) met at the University of Oxford on 11-13 February for a follow-up forum to strengthen private investment inflows into fragile or conflict-affected economies.
