Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was received at the White House by United States President Donald Trump for a meeting dedicated to the main issues of the Middle East crisis. At the end of the talks, the Israeli leader described the understanding between the two countries as "a wall of granite," reaffirming the close cooperation between Washington and Tel Aviv on security matters, starting with the Iranian nuclear issue.
The meeting, which lasted about an hour and a half, was held behind closed doors without joint statements to the press. Trump shared his comments in a brief message on Truth Social, describing the discussion as "very positive." Netanyahu, in a video released afterward, reported having an extensive discussion with the American president, focusing particularly on the shared goal of preventing Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons.
During the visit, protests also took place in front of the White House, with groups of activists opposing the Israeli government's policies.
The summit was held as tensions in the area were rising again. At the same time, a missile attack on a U.S. base in Jordan, attributed to Iran, was followed by raids conducted by the United States along with Saudi Arabia against targets linked to pro-Iranian militias in Iraq. Tehran also ruled out ongoing negotiations with Washington, while incidents in the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea contributed to rising oil prices.
